Many of us around the world have lived through an earthquake. They’re sudden and scary events that can be life altering to families, cities, and countries. This severity unfortunately plays along with their incredibly hard nature to predict, which makes preparing for them in ways other than building strong buildings a pretty hard task.

However, why is something as monstrous as an earthquake just so hard to predict?
