The Engineering Behind Subaru’s Most Powerful Engine

Subaru has long been a favorite manufacturer of driving enthusiasts and engineers alike. Their unique engine design has birthed some fantastic driving machines – and they’ve just created their most powerful engine yet.

The Subaru STI S209 has a larger turbo, a new intake and exhaust manifold, a new engine tune, and a water injection system. All told, it can produce a respectable 341 horsepower from a 2.5L boxer engine. While that engine may not sound like it has a ton of power, it’s a masterful work of engineering. Take a look at the video below where YouTuber, Engineer, and Automotive Enthusiast Engineering Explained examines just what makes this engine so special.
