Google’s Deep Mind AI Just Taught Itself to Walk

Google has been experimenting with artificial intelligence through their DeepMind research ground. DeepMind has been behind many AI advances, but the most recent is perhaps the most impressive – and most hilarious.

They developed three models of virtual being that they then handed off to an AI program. They incentivized the AI to get the models from point A to B but told them nothing about how to move the models or what terrain lied ahead. The AIs then taught themselves how to walk, run, and even jump. This learning ultimately fulfilled their task, but the way that these AIs perfected walking and running is just a little bit out of the ordinary.
