Artificial Neural Networks (ANN)

This is a learning model based on the neural networks of living beings for artificial intelligence. These networks are used to solve more complex computing problems in AI programming.

Backpropagation

This is a way of deducting the inputs and desired constraints with the output is already known. This term is commonly used in programming AI.

Data Architecture

The way that data is stored in a data system.

Deep learning

A subset of algorithms that try to model and understand complex models and structures through determining relationships between data sets.

FEA (Finite Element Analysis )

FEA is an analysis method that looks at the structural integrity of a part by separating it into different elemental structures and analyzes it through discrete mathematics on an atomic level.

Heuristics

Rules developed from experience to solve problems more quickly as opposed to traditional step-by-step approaches.

ISO (International Organization for Standardization)

This organization is one of the main standardization organizations across the world that provides specifications for products and services based on set quality and safety measures.

Just in Time Manufacturing (JIT)

A method of manufacturing that functions through precise logistical planning. Specifically, it is planning a manufacturing process so that each part is done “just-in-time” to arrive at the next process.

Natural aspiration

A term in 4 stroke engines that defines the process through which air is brought into the engine cylinder when the piston engages in a downward movement.

NFC – Near Field Communication

This lets mobile devices communicate using radio waves when they are within about 4 inches of each other. NFC is common in file sharing applications as well as device pairing and wireless payments.

Nominal

A term for a measurement that is generally accepted by still just an approximation.

Pareto analysis

A formal quality technique that uses a bar graph to loop at the reported problems and identify which one is most severe so it can be addressed first.

SDK – Software Development Kit

A kit of tools used to develop software.

Strong AI

Artificial intelligence that is as useful and skilled at everything as the human mind is.

Torque

Torque is a moment force that twists an object. It is the cross product of the vector of the offset of a force’s application point and the force vector, which ultimately produces rotation.

Variance

A value that demonstrates the largest difference in the range of values within a group of numbers.
