Burst Dam in Laos Demonstrates the Destructive Power of Water

The hydrologic power of water is a force to be reckoned with. It has destroyed cities, flooded great areas – water has the power to reshape the geography of the earth.

These intense properties of water also make it a prime candidate to generate electricity and use to the benefit of society. Dams are used all across the world to reshape landscapes and generate electricity, but every so often one fails. If a dam fails ahead of a heavily populated area, the resulting disaster can be catastrophic. The video below captures footage of a recent dam break in Laos that was under construction. This dam was rather small in comparison to others in the world.
