The growth of online shopping has meant that more and more products need to be shipped on roads across the world. Shipping of all sorts, even for commercial means, requires a network of semi trucks ready to transport goods on demand.
However, the modern trucking industry is facing a shortage of qualified workers. This means that in order to transport the goods we know – and need – the world needs a better solution. Autonomous trucks that allow human drivers to operate their trucks for much longer hours may be the immediate option. These trucks would essentially drive the vehicle while the driver was onboard, getting around time restrictions currently in place in the industry.
